Getting Your Green Light: DGCA Medical Fitness
Navigating eGCA, Class II, and Class I Medical Assessments.
In our last post, we covered the minimum educational and age qualifications required to become a pilot. If you meet those criteria, congratulations!
But before you start studying aerodynamics or exploring flight academies, you must clear one critical hurdle: your medical fitness.
Register on the eGCA Portal
First, create your digital aviation identity on the DGCA eGCA Portal .
You’ll generate an eGCA ID, which will be used to track your medical reports, licensing progress, and pilot records.
Class II Medical Assessment
This is your starting point. You must visit a DGCA-approved medical examiner.
- General physical exam & BMI
- ECG (heart health)
- Audiometry (hearing)
- Blood & urine tests
- Vision & eye examination
Find approved doctors via the official DGCA Class II Medical Examiner list .
Class I Medical Assessment
Required for your Commercial Pilot License (CPL), this is a more advanced evaluation.
- Only after completing Class II
- Conducted at Air Force centers or specialized hospitals
- More detailed and strict assessment
